Tlemcen University celebrated its anniversary with a distinguished scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Yasmina Belkaïd, the daughter of Abou Bakr Belkaïd

Tlemcen University celebrated its 50th anniversary (1974-2024) and the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Liberation Revolution with a distinguished scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Yasmina Belkaïd, Director-General of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, on November 19, 2024. The lecture, held in the university's main auditorium, focused on the topic "Control of the Immune System by the Microbiome." Dr. Belkaïd presented advanced scientific insights into the role of the microbiome in regulating immune responses and its impact on developing innovative treatments for autoimmune diseases and cancers.

This lecture is of particular significance as it forms part of the celebrations marking the university's 50th anniversary, and the speaker is the daughter of the late Abou Bakr Belkaïd, the former minister after whom the university is named in honor of his contributions to higher education. The event highlights the continued scientific excellence within the Belkaïd family and their ongoing commitment to education. It also reinforces Tlemcen University's role as a leading institution in promoting scientific research and knowledge exchange on both national and international levels
